HZS vs MHZS Concrete Batching Plants: Differences and Selection Criteria
HZS and MHZS plants perform the same basic task: dosing aggregate, cement, water and admixture to a recipe and producing concrete. Their main differences concern site installation, steel-frame structure and the possibility of later relocation.
HZS: classic stationary arrangement
An HZS plant is intended for long-term production at one location. The system from aggregate bins to mixing tower is integrated into the site design. Concrete foundations, separate silo foundations, roads and drainage are normally planned in detail. This arrangement suits ready-mix and infrastructure projects with high daily demand, permanent material storage and established logistics.
MHZS: modular arrangement with reduced foundation work
MHZS combines major systems on large steel frames and modules. This can simplify installation and reduce concrete foundation work compared with a conventional HZS plant. It does not mean “foundation-free”: support pads, silo foundations, anchoring, wind loads and ground conditions must still be calculated. MHZS is often considered for projects with a shorter duration or a possible future relocation.
How should output be compared?
A model number alone does not guarantee actual m³/h. Plants with the same model designation can use different mixers, cycle times, bins and conveyors. Alongside rated output, check the mix design, mixing time, aggregate moisture, cement-screw delivery rate and truck loading sequence.
Which type is appropriate?
When a plant will operate for many years at one site, with high daily demand and permanent infrastructure, HZS is normally the main candidate. When the site may change later and reduced installation time or foundation work matters, MHZS should be evaluated. If frequent relocation is required, compare true mobile plants such as YHZS or YHZM as well.
For selection, provide TANKER with daily and peak concrete demand, project duration, site layout, geotechnical information, power and water availability, and any relocation plan.
Comparison table
| Criterion | HZS | MHZS |
|---|---|---|
| Basic format | Stationary | Modular |
| Foundation | Conventional, detailed design | Work may be reduced; calculation still required |
| Relocation | Long-term use at one site | More convenient for later relocation |
| Installation | Depends on site infrastructure | Modular assembly |
| Suitable project | Permanent ready-mix/infrastructure | Time-limited or potentially changing site |
